PM Orders Public Screenings of SEA Games

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has ordered administrators in Phnom Penh and the provinces to set up locations where the SEA Games can be projected onto a big screen so that sports fans who do not have tickets can attend.

In a special audio message on 25 April 2023, the Prime Minister mentioned the demand for the 29 April football match to be screened publicly, to which he responded with a request for all provincial governors to prepare venues as soon as possible.

He said, "Administrators, especially the Provincial Governors and the Governor of Phnom Penh, prepare a suitable venue for people to watch the live broadcasts as soon as possible so that people have a place to sit and view the games while maintaining order.”

The men's football tournament will kickoff at 7 p.m. on 29 April, when Cambodia will face Timor Leste ahead of the official opening ceremony of the 32nd SEA Games on May 5. All tickets for the football match were reserved within 24 hours of being posted. Cambodia is offering free tickets for this year’s games, but they must be reserved online.
